Emerging technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), are increasingly leveraged for disaster management. From simulations and trainings to tabletop exercises, the most useful applications have been directly for the emergency management community. Learn more about our VR for disaster risk reduction among the public. Employing immersive serious disaster preparedness games can influence hazard awareness and protective actions among individuals and households. DeeDee Bennett Gayle, Associate Professor & Associate Dean for Research at CEHC, will present findings from a National Science Foundation-funded project uses VR to address risks older adults face during disasters.
