The Nepali New Year, known as Bikram Sambat New Year (नयाँ वर्ष), is one of the most important cultural celebrations in Nepal.

It is a mix of tradition, family bonding, spirituality and celebration of life’s fresh start. It usually falls in mid-April (around April 13–15) and marks the start of the new year in the Bikram Sambat calendar, which is about 56–57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar.
