Narrative Medicine Workshop: Giving Voice to Patients' Stories in Art & Literature
Facilitated by Mary Valentis (Center for Humanities, Arts and Technoscience - CHATS Director) and Megan Gerber (Albany Medical College)
This event brings The University at Albany and Albany Medical College together in a collaborative Narrative Medicine workshop that introduces attendees to how the interdisciplinary engagement of the arts, social sciences, medicine, and other health-related areas adds to health practice and well-being. The aim of the workshop and panel discussion is for attendees to gain a deepened understanding of important issues in life, in health, and in our psychological, emotional, spiritual, and existential experiences as human beings through listening to and empathizing with patients’ stories. The panel discussion includes: Marcie Newton (Writing and Critical Inquiry- WCI), Kristen Loutensock (The Honors College) and Amal Siddiqui (Dartmouth College)
