Lux-Zeplin or LZ is the most sensitive dark matter detector in the world, and its operation is a collaboration among scores of international scientists from 38 institutions. Associate Professor and Associate Chair, Department of Physics, Dr. Cecilia Levy and co-principal investigator Matthew Szydagis, has led a team of postdoctoral researchers and PhD graduate students at UAlbany since 2017, contributing to the ongoing efforts to directly discover dark matter, an elusive particle which makes up 25% of the universe.
