Description: In 2009, the world’s oldest known fossilized forest was discovered by the speaker in Cairo, New York. In this talk, Charles Ver Straeten, Ph.D., sedimentary geologist with the New York State Museum, will detail his exciting geologic discovery and offer a window into forest life in the Devonian Period according to clues gleaned from the New York fossil record.
